This is a question that I never thought about . . . until recently. So now I have to ask myself "Did this make me a bad mother?" I just trusted what companies were putting out there for me. I guess I just assumed that they cared about the safety of my kids. If it felt good, and it smelled good, and made my babies skin kissably soft, I was all over it! I have been so blessed to see the outpouring of love and support for the heart-tugging challenge I am going through with Greyson. And you know me . . . I will go to the ends of the earth to protect my kids. I am realizing that if I don't look out for what I am exposing my precious babies to - no one else will. For those who know me best they know that I am a freak about the smell of lavender. I have it everywhere . . . lavender soap, lavender shampoo, lavender cleaning products and I even tried to find lavender toilet paper - WTF! ![]() As my skin care guru Shelly Maguire screams at me "Jenni, read your labels!!!! (she has drilled that into my head) You buy everything with lavender but where do you even see the word lavender on your product ingredients list? In a majority of skin and body products, even our home cleaning products, the word "fragrance" is there - but no trace of the word lavender. That's because it is much cheaper and easier to create the synthetic smell of lavender as opposed to using the pure grade of essential lavender oil."

It is truly scary the amount of chemicals in our health & beauty products!! Did your friend recommend some pure essential oils for you? If not I’d love to get you hooked up!! 😁 I’m sure you’ve already looked at food allergies for your son too, but I’ve got some friends that had a lot of success when they changed their daughters diet as well as cutting out toxic ingredients. 😘

Look, chemicals don’t cause developmental disabilities, genetics do. I’m on the spectrum and I can tell you that. Stop treating us as if we are something to be ashamed about. I’m neurologically different and I’m proud of what I have been able to accomplish in life. Read up on ABA therapy and do your research scientifically, not based on what an actress with no degree tells you about chemicals and vaccines. Autism spectrum disorder is just a genetic neurological developmental disorder. Accept your child for who he is without blaming anything do your research and give him all the love and support you are doing so well now and he will be fine I promise.

Doterra makes amazing lavender essential oil - it’s great to diffuse, and you can add to unscented body lotion, body wash, etc. Much better than synthetic fragrance.

Oh Jenni I saw the episode and My heart broke for you and you sweet family. I cannot begin to imagine how you must feel. I know that once I learned what you are talking about in the post I could never not think about it. I keep as much all natural products in my house as I can and I’m trying to get to a 100% toxic free house. It is not easy but the benifits can’t be beat. There are so many amazing companies out there offering all natural products. Being a certified health coach I only wish to reach the amount of people you can to inform and teach them about the crap that is in these products everyone uses everyday. Thank you for shedding light on it!

My son is 8 now. When he was 4 mo and we were getting ready to take him to the beach for the first time I started researching what the safest sunscreens were. I found out you shouldn’t even use sunscreen on a child under 6 mo and also I found this website ewg.org. (Environmental working group) They even have an app and this is my go to now to research laundry detergent, body wash, sunscreen, cleaning products, makeup, you name it—before using anything for me and my family. It is a shame that our government isn’t doing a better job regulating these harmful chemicals in everything we buy on a daily basis!! Good luck!!

I agree how scary it is when we see how toxic a lot of products are. There is an awesome app called think dirty you type in a product and it tells you how toxic it is. This was a total eye opener for me.

I feel you on this Jenni. As the mom of 2 special needs children, I have to be super careful. My heart broke for you when I saw you speak about your son, his struggles, and how hurt you were that the roommates were not there for you. It can feel very lonely at times, gut wrenching, and even overwhelming. Just hold your head high, and be the amazing mom you are. He has the strongest mom ever in his corner, and I know you will stop at nothing to gt him what he needs. He will be ok, and so will you. HUGE hugz to you. I cannot wait for your line♥

My son is 5 with autism, we are starting to cut out toxins, first to go was vaccines, we seen alot of regression after vaccines, we stopped and have seen nothing but improvement , no more regression!! (No I'm not saying his autism is caused by vaccines, his uncle is autistic , so we always knew it was a possibility.

My son is recovered from severe autism. If I trusted my pediatrician my son would have been in restraints by puberty. He head banged and bite to bleed, non verbal poop art. Today he is friendly, talkative and you would never guess how bad things were just 2 years ago. I don’t live far from you, which means my doctors are close to you. I am launching a non profit to help others families suffering from autism and other developmental disabilities. I pray that yours is one of them. And I pray for your sons ful recovery.

I would love to hear some of what has worked for you. My son is not autistic, but he has sensory processing disorder and speech issues. He is finally receiving therapeutic services. It’s been a long struggle.

Lady, it’s a neurological disorder not a disease. Speaking as a 32 year old man on the spectrum I really resent the way you talk about ASD. You need to do more research and you should be ashamed not cool.

You need to both keep your relationship out of the public eye! That is more toxic to your kids than any of your fights with your ex
